Civil and Criminal Cases

Cases heard by the Second Court of Appeals include appeals of civil cases with judgments that exceed $250.  The court also exercises jurisdiction for all criminal appeals, except death penalty cases.  In addition, the appellate court has jurisdiction over original proceedings, including writs of mandamus, injunction, prohibition and habeas corpus – arising out of cases heard in district and county courts located in the twelve counties that the district serves.
